Threshold Values of Plant Water Status for Scheduling Deficit Irrigation in Early Apricot Trees

چکیده
Irrigated agriculture is facing a serious problem of water scarcity, which could be mitigated by optimizing the application regulated deficit irrigation (RDI) strategies. For this reason, aim our study was to determine thresholds based on direct status indicators apricot trees under RDI maximize productivity. Three treatments were tested: (i) Control (CTL), irrigated at 100% crop evapotranspiration (ETc) during entire cycle; (ii) RDI1, as CTL, except fruit growth stages I–II when reduced 20% and late post-harvest, with an threshold moderate stress −1.5 MPa stem potential (Ψs); (iii) RDI2, but post-harvest using severe −2.0 Ψs. As scheduling RDI1 RDI2 did not affect yield quality, productivity increased 13.2 25.6%, respectively. This corresponded 1124 2133 m3 ha−1 saved for RDI2. A integral 30.2 day considered optimal since 41 accumulated, vegetative 35%. The non-sensitive periods delimited accumulation growing degree days (GDD) from full bloom, end 640 °C GDD, beginning 1840 GDD.

Effects of regulated deficit irrigation on physiology and fruit quality in apricot trees
The effects of regulated deficit irrigation (RDI) were studied on 9 year-old apricot-trees (Prunus armeniaca L. cv. ‘Búlida’) grafted on ‘Real Fino’ rootstock. Two irrigation treatments were established. The first, a control treatment, was irrigated to fully satisfy the crop water requirements (100% ETc) and the second, a RDI treatment, was subject to water shortage during the non-critical peri...
متن کاملDeficit irrigation for reducing agricultural water use.
At present and more so in the future, irrigated agriculture will take place under water scarcity. Insufficient water supply for irrigation will be the norm rather than the exception, and irrigation management will shift from emphasizing production per unit area towards maximizing the production per unit of water consumed, the water productivity. To cope with scarce supplies, deficit irrigation,...
متن کاملComparing canopy temperature and leaf water potential as irrigation scheduling criteria of potato in water-saving irrigation strategies
Irrigation scheduling is important in irrigation water management. In this study, full (FI),deficit (DI) and partial root drying (PRD) irrigation strategies were applied in Agria and Ramospotato cultivars. Canopy temperature (CT) and leaf water potential (LWP) were assessed as thepotential tools for irrigation scheduling during the vegetative and productive growth stages.LWP varied between ca. ...

Salinization of soil is primarily caused by capillary rise from saline shallow groundwater orapplication of saline irrigation water. In this investigation, the transient state analytical modelwas modified to predict water uptake from saline shallow groundwater, actual cropevapotranspiration, soil water content, dry matter, seed yield and soil salinity under differentsaline groundwater depths, i...
متن کاملPlant responses to water deficit
Plant responses to water deficit are dependent on the amount of water lost, the rate of loss and the duration of the stressed condition. The characterization of a large number of genes induced by stresses involving water deficit has significantly improved understanding of the response. There appear to be several pathways for gene induction involved, and these are being elucidated by the analysi...
